The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same. ~ Carlos Castaneda Quotes

A positive self perception promotes the perfect self perception and is a wonderful thing to possess. Though it is possible that most people lack confidence, there are also those who are overly confident in their abilities. They are the ones who usually take on too much, which in turn devastates them and may damage that confidence. Why? It is because they fail miserably since they have “bitten off more than they can chew” and were not equipped to handle it all.

It is not a good idea to jump in head first. To build the perfect self perception, it must be founded in reality; what you are truly capable of and what you are not then be competent enough and resourceful enough to locate the what you will need to help you along the way. One of the most important aspects of achievement is that you be firm in self knowledge; know who you are, what you want to achieve, and develop a realistic plan based on the evaluation of your abilities to accomplish it. With it all, you will also need to commit to self improvement, have a willingness to learn, and strong motivation to push you.

A perfect addition to building and maintaining the perfect self perception is to stay focused on your goals at all times. You can do this by developing a plan of action that spells out the steps you will take. Most importantly, you plan should spell out steps that fit your realistic abilities. I cannot stress enough, how important it is that you are well aware of your TRUE abilities before you start the planning process. Only a plan custom to your abilities can lead you to achieving success.

A perfect self perception musters motivation. At this point, you are completely capable of rallying the drive to follow your plan and ultimately achieve your goals.

We all know it is fairly easy to procrastinate. As humans, we can find excuse after excuse to keep us from putting forth the effort to achieve a dream or goal. With what result? Nothing! Not a thing being planned and not a thing being achieved! So it is of utmost important that you continually motivate yourself so that your actions are coinciding with your plan and your will to achieve personal greatness.

Finally, always keep your plan handy and refer to it on a regular basis. It is inevitable that it will change along the way.

True Catherine but perseverance it the key! You've got to keep pushing. When one door closes, push through another one.

This was so well done. Staying focused and having realistic goals is the key to what we want to accomplish and when we stay positive, even through setbacks, we will succeed. Voted up. Sharing.

I haven't read this whole series, but I wonder if you've made the point somewhere that there is a difference between having a 'perfect self perception', and having a 'self perception of perfection'?
