I had rather attempt something great and fail, than to attempt nothing at all and succeed. Robert Schuller
Leadership is really only a process of influence and it goes hand in hand with power, which is also influential. Both of these terms, leadership and power, are traits of persuasion but power is what determines your level of potential to persuade.
You know what power is right? It's what shines through in the people we know, at work, community, or school, that have the ability to affect other's lives, actions and decisions through their attitudes, actions, and beliefs.
It's the co-worker that has all the ideas and everyone looks to for answers. It's the boss that makes everyone feel special and work hard for a common goal. It's that popular classmate that everyone talks about and wants to be like or doing whatever they are doing. It's that teacher that constantly hounds you about your homework, test grades and doing better in his/her class. It's your parents, coaches and counselors, who instill higher education, working hard to achieve this or that, etc.
They get on your nerves sometimes and others they seem to be "naggers". Why? Because they "nag" you about doing this, completing that, possibly your plans for the future. They constantly check your grades and conduct and they push you to do better at whatever you need whenever you need it.
The first thing I want understood is that when your parents, teacher, coaches, and counselors push these things, they are not looking to "nag" you but keep you in line to achieve the best, be the best, and influence excellence. How? Not by "nagging" you but by using their power, in whatever capacity they have, to effect change in YOU, if its constantly asking question that gets things done then that's what they do. If it's keeping up with your grades and pushing you to do better when you stumble then that's what they do.
A good thing to understand is that the goal is for you to be the best of the best. It is not to "nag" you but build your skills for the future and beyond. As a matter of fact, what these influencers do ultimately, with all that terrorizing, is sharpen your leadership and planning skills and increase your power of achievement, as you influence your peers, achieve all your goals and make your dreams reality.
