Your Happiness Increased

The perfect perception can seem intangible with its coming and going at a moment’s notice and dependent on this or that situation. I’m sure there are times when you are happy with yourself and your life. Because you realize this or that as an achievement or see the difference in yourself than 5 or 10 years earlier. There are even times you find yourself a little proud. Then too, there are those times you can’t shake the blues, everything seems to be happening to you and nothing seems to be going right. A real bummer! Now you are in a slump.

It’s a fact that being unhappy with yourself or your life can be a huge discouragement. As a matter of fact, it can weigh you down and make change seem unachievable but rest assured that it is not! Happiness and change can be achieved. All it takes is determination, planning, and something that motivates you.

There are steps you can take to increase happiness with yourself and the life you live.

Here are 5 important tips:

1. Make a list of the things that make you happy and the ones you have always dreamed you would accomplish by now, both business and personal. Be realistic with yourself. But list the small things that brighten your day, goals you would need preparation and/or increased knowledge to achieve, as well as, the things that you are capable of achieving with your current skill set.

2. Keep a planner or journal with you at all times for brainstorming. A big part of happiness is reflection on the things that attribute to it. It's a good idea to spend 15 – 20 minutes per day jotting down what made you smile today and your thoughts on steps that will lead you to achieve something on your list.

3. Stress is a major cause of self loathing and unhappiness. Simplify things as much as possible! If you want to increase your happiness and achieve some goals too, you must work on reducing stress and increasing motivation. You do this by simplifying your life as much as possible. Take a moment to rest and reflect. Do not overwhelm yourself. Determine where you can cut back in your daily ruckus and do so and incorporate reflecting on what makes you smile and developing steps to achieving your dreams.

4. Surround yourself with positive people as often as you can. One of the worst things to do to ourselves and our happiness is to surround ourselves with people who drain us with their negativity. Determine who adds something and who sucks you dry and make the appropriate changes. You don’t have to stop associating with the drainers but you would be smart to limit their access to your energy to maximize your personal growth and happiness.

5. Last but not least, accept life’s ups and downs as part of life. One of the biggest attributes to happiness is realizing that it is not a 24-7 thing. There will be some emotional roller coasters. Acknowledge all of your emotions without becoming consumed by them.

There are numerous suggestions to improve happiness and achieve goals. Some easier than others and different suggestions work for different people. The main point is to remember to spend as much time as possible focusing on happiness in YOUR life and things that attribute to it.

**Peaceful Journeys

Joy can be real only if people look upon their life as a service, and have a definite object in life outside themselves and their personal happiness. - Leo Tolstoy
